Dario E. Viganò at the House Museum of Alda Merini to pay tribute to the poet of the Navigli, for the I year of the award "Milano Primaveradellapoesia"
Milan - On the occasion of the World Poetry Day and the first year of the award "Primaveradellapoesia" supported by Francesca Parvizyar, in collaboration with the City of Milan, Dario Edoardo Viganò will give a speech at the evening in honor of the poet of the Navigli (Canals), at the House Museum Alda Merini. During the evening the national award "Milano Primaveradellapoesia" dedicated to Alda Merini and Antonia Pozzi will be launched: the works will be selected during 2012 by a jury of qualified critics and representatives of the world of culture, among which Stefano Boeri, Silvio Bordoni, Ambrogio Borsani, Alberto Casiraghy, Maurizio Cucchi, Tomaso Kemeny, Franco Loi, Giancarlo Majorino, Arnoldo Mosca Mondadori, Stefano Raimondi, Antonio Riccardi, Elisabetta Sgarbi, Dario E. Viganò, Maria Alberta Viviani. "She used to go into her much loved Church on the town path of the Naviglio Grande"- says Viganò - "and begin gifting us with the music of words. She would walk through the areas Alzia and Ripa, and she would return every time she published one of her poems or aphorisms: if she didn't find me, the publication was a sign of her visit". Viganò was an occasional but attentive listener of Merini during his time at the Office for Communications of the Cardinal Martini in Milan. Merini would present one or two of her famous aphorisms to Viganò, which she would attempt to get acknowledged, and then she would disappear and reappear in what Viganò describes as "flying visits, rich in meaning". "Merini's poems" - concludes Viganò - "bring with them richness, pain transformed into the sublimity of words which accompany tomorrow without forgetting the days of the tragic experience of marriage, of the electric shocks and of the loves which were too bourgeois for a woman who loved freedom. To a point of madness. Or sanity".

Milan - In preparation of the VII World Meeting of Families (30 May-3 June 2012), the cinema exhibition "Family Italian Style", created and organized by Dario Edoardo Viganò and the Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo will be presented in Milan, at Palazzo Reale, Thursday 1 March 2012 at 18.00. The event will be inaugurated by Dario E. Viganò and S.E. card. Erminio De Scalzi (President Fondazione Famigli 2012) and Gianni Amelio (film director) will also take part. The exhibition "Family Italian Style" offers a cinematographic path from the 1910s to the twenty first century, telling the story of the country through images of the family. «From Assunta Spina (1915; Gustavo Serena)» - explains Viganò - «to the nienteenth century family drama in Piccolo mondo antico (1941; Mario Soldati). From the misery of the years during the war (Ladri di biciclette; 1948, by Vittorio De Sica), to a mother's dreams, played by Anna Magnani in Bellissima (1951,by Luchino Visconti). Through the photos from film sets, we reach the heart of the family institution, from when in spite of problems and misunderstandings it becomes a united and cohesive clan (from La famiglia; 1987, by Ettore Scola to Il cuore grande delle ragazze, 2011 by Pupi Avati), to when it is hit with the loss of values, something which is evident in the films from recent years (from La bestia nel cuore, 2005, by Cristina Comencini to Anche libero va bene, 2006, by Kim Rossi Stuart). The exhibition is one of the preparatory events for the VII Meeting of Families, a fundamental moment for believers and their families and at the same time it is an opportunity to remember those actors and actresses who made Italian cinema famous worldwide and to emerge ourselves in the universe of family, which, with its ever changing tradition, has always marked our existence». The title of this year's event is Love, death, the miraculous. A study of contemporary society, emphasizing how man has always wavered between life, rationalism and mysticism. Rome - Presentation of the new book by Dario E. Viganò "CARI MAESTRI. Da Susanne
Bier a Gianni Amelio i registi si interrogano sull'importanza
dell'educazione" with a round table, on Tuesday 25 October 2011 at 17.30, in the hall Paolo VI at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome (piazza San Giovanni in Laterano 4). Talks by S.E. mons. Enrico dal Covolo ( Rector of the Pontifical Lateran University), On.

The moderator for the event will be Paolo Rodari (Vaticanist of the newspaper "Il Foglio"). "The book" - explains Viganò - is aimed not only for those who have a privileged, immediate and daily relationship with young people, but also for filmmakers who have a fundamental role in the educative universe today, it goes through the history of the cinema attempting to take in the ways of representation of the three educative universes: school, family and territory. It is not a collection with the expectations of encyclopedias; but simply of a review with the objective to present the main cinema works which have looked at these topics, films full of reflections and analysis. The intent behind the book is to give an agile and functional tool to those who are interested in deepening their knowledge in the educative field; those who want to reflect on the educative emergency and on the main actors of the educative system of the new generations, starting from the fundamental role of the media, specifically in the cinema world. The book is therefore addressed to experts and those who work in the world of communication and culture, from communication and culture promoters to various levels of school teachers (especially middle school and high school), but also to pastoral operators, to those who animate the Community halls, the cineforums".

"On second thoughts about a new pastoral - underlines Viganò anticipating his speech - the attention theologically given to the rhetoric public communication and to the media system becomes qualifying element to avoid both the bulimic claim of techniques as evangelization panacea and the anorexia of thought as irenic anesthesia facing the complexity of the situations. A reflection that wants to help to rethink about the execution of the duty of the ministry itself , ministry of evangelization and education, called on once again to promote spaces and forms of sociality spurred by desire, because, as Guy Debord says, if people don't find what they desire they will end up being satisfied with what they find".

The cinematography transpositions of the sacred readings: stories of history, history of stories, parable. Supervisor at the University of Catania

The event is organized by the Pastoral Office of the university of the arcidiocesi of Catania in collaboration with the university on Catania. "The built in vocation of cinema"- explains Viganò - "as a storytelling device has made the encounter between biblical history and the history of Jesus possible and fertile: starting from the works of the Lumière Brothers and of Méliès in France, from the first historical productions as Christus by Antamoro in Italy, to the period of the colossal Hollywood biblical, then moving the attention to Pasolini or to the suggestiveness of Zeffirelli, to the voyeurism of Gibsonin in the year 2000, not forgetting of course the original transpositions like
Jesus Christ Superstar or provocative ones like L'ultima tentazione di Cristo. In front of the heterogeneity of the audio-visual transpositions about the events of Christ, it is possible to give an analytical taxonomy, three paths of reflection: stories on the history of Jesus, history of the stories of Jesus; and the parable cinema, the cinema of figurae Christi".

Vincenzo Paglia (bishop of Terni, Narni and Amelia), Andrea Piersanti (journalist), Krzysztof Zanussi (film director), Arnaldo Colasanti (literary critic) and Davide Rondoni (poet). The talk by Dario E. Viganò, titled 'Il sacro nel cinema. Ri-figurazioni paraboliche nel cinema europeo e statunitense da Pier Paolo Pasolini a Clint Eastwood' ('The sacred in cinema. Parabolic re-figurations in European and United States cinema from Pier Paolo Pasolini to Clint Eastwood'), provides an occasion to reflect on the heterogeneous nature of audio-visual re-figurations of the life of Christ, giving particular attention to so-called "parabolic films which, in the rhetoric of narration" - explained Viganò - "maintain the force of 'reference' treating personalities as 'figurae Christi'. This involves those films in which the principle personalities are deliberately presented as 'figurae Christi', as figures who within a different time and context from that through which Jesus lived nevertheless assume aspects of the experience of Christ". Starting with the cinema of Pier Paolo Pasolini in the 1960s and the films which preceded 'The Gospel According to St.Matthew' (1964): 'Accattone!' (1961), 'Mamma Roma' (1962) and 'La ricotta' (1963) Viganò proposes a cinematic-parabolic analysis which compares European cinema with that of Hollywood arriving at the present day and such films as 'Breaking the Waves' (1996) by the Danish director Lars von Trier and 'Gran Torino' (2008) by the Hollywood film director Clint Eastwood.
